Residential Area Santa Giulia

A dialectical comparison between architecture and masterplan played on the values of formal and chromatic dynamism. The project was to create residences for young users, offering the image of lively freshness required by the client. The three volumes envisaged by Sir Norman Foster’s masterplan are merged by Camerana into a single simple sleeve which, to offer a strong backdrop along the axis of arrival from the park, is lowered from the ends towards the center, giving shape to an inverted arch. In this ideal top floor valley there is an open-air swimming pool and a shared wellness center. The curvature of the plant responds to the curve of the roof, which also allows the creation of stepped terraces for the apartments on the top floors, which follows the course of the road and fits into the naturalistic design of the masterplan. Above the ground floor on pilotis there are studios, flanked by a small number of duplex penthouse-type apartments with terraces. The facades of the south, east and west elevations, in high-density fiber cement panels, play on the vibrating energy of the different colors of the walls, sliding shutters and glass parapets.
