SPAZIOPORTO GROTTAGLIE MAM 2024

SPAZIOPORTO GROTTAGLIE MAM 2024

From Taranto to Tokyo in an hour and half, traveling at 16,000 km/h, 400 kilometers above the Earth, practically in orbit. It’s not science fiction, but it’s what was discussed at the MAM Aerospace Convention in Grottaglie, Puglia, from March 20th to 22nd. Three days of conferences, roundtable discussions, flight demonstrations to bring together key players in the aerospace industry with international investors and incubators. The goal: mobility and space transportation system.

Benedetto Camerana and Paolo Cambula (CEO of ADR Engineering) were invited on behalf of the Design Team, which also includes Proger and Rina Consulting, to present the PFTE of the Italian Spaceport, winners of an international competition. To envision a space transportation hub, Camerana has adopted a compositional and architectural language inspired by the world of space exploration. The multifunctional center includes a huge hangar for aircraft, a visitor center, a museum, a research center, and a startup incubator. The distinctive and predominant color will be Copper Metallic, reminiscent of typical materials used in space architecture while also harmonizing with the ochre of the Apulian landscape, naturally blending into the surroundings. The Spaceport project offers an emotional progression for both orbital tourists and visitors, from the entrance to experiential spaces to mezzanine in hangar with spacecraft. Anchored firmly to ground to launch into space: this is the approach of Benedetto Camerana’s architecture, which this time has imagined a truly distant horizon.

Here is the video of the project, and here is an interview for Rai TGR.
