The Masterplan for ATP FINALS, Torino 2021-2025
On Friday 13th the winning project of the competition for the ATP Finals Masterplan in Turin (2021 – 2025) was announced. The architectural and exhibition design is curated by Benedetto Camerana, in grouping with AWE International Group (Parent Company), Polytechnic of Turin, Arriva Italia, Nielsen Sport, KPMG. From today the working group has started the operational meetings. Our proposal for the ATP Master Plan develops a vision that, starting from the urban and architectural place of the event, reverberates in the city and in the territory, both in terms of roots and in physical terms. The project relaunches the legacy of the 2006 Olympics towards the future, of which PalaIsozaki is an important legacy. In particular, Camerana’s idea is reported: “I would like to renew the principles of the Olympic Arch: I would like the design strategy for the Masterplan to be to sublimate the temporary set-up works, however fully functional, loading them with communication and also transforming them into a symbol of the event and of the territory”.
Today, in the current context, the central value of our Masterplan is the environmental philosophy: with the collaboration of the Politecnico di Torino we have deepened all aspects of the sustainability of the architectural and exhibition project, from energy to recovery, from the materials used to the preparation processes.
Green economy and circular economy thus come together to give life to a new urban landscape, integrated and iconic: a coherent mix of real nature, organic forms, energy conservation and contemporary landscape design.
Turin thus reconfirms itself once again as the Italian city of the green avant-garde, even in the world of major sporting events.
Torino ATP Finals will thus be able to expand the place and time of the event, putting themselves back into play in the city, permeating public spaces and the territory, and transmitting global values that go beyond the duration of the event.
