SCHOOL PROJECT – BORGO SAN GIUSEPPE SCHOOL INSTITUTE

Passing by the area designated for new Borgo San Giuseppe School Institute, you only see a fenced-off building: this is how the beginning of a construction site presents itself when everything is still an idea, a possibility about to become concrete – quite literally. This project, “Construction of new schools by replacing buildings,” is part of the broader plan of the PNRR – Next Generation EU, which envisages the construction of 212 school buildings across Italy. In newsletter #33, we recounted the awarding of this competition to consortium formed by Benedetto Camerana Studio and Politecna Europa for the large school complex in Cuneo. We announce the beginning of the construction phase, which will be followed by the demolition of the current building. The project involves the construction of a primary and a lower secondary school. The ambition is to make it a landmark in the urban center. Thinking from the fundamental landscape perspective, Benedetto Camerana envisioned the school in a context of significant area transformation. In fact, the redevelopment of the park in front of the building is also planned to make it a new hub for community gathering – as in the hospital complex in Novara, revitalizing is not just about construction but creating meaningful meeting places. In this hybrid project where different functions interact and merge, the construction solutions are sustainable, modular, and high-performing, allowing the spaces to harmoniously dialogue with each other.”
