Piazza dei Mestieri
The project for restructuring and restoring the valuable industrial building designed adopting the liberty style (Art Nouveau) by Pietro Fenoglio in 1905, consists in eliminating the subsequently built secondary industrial structures and buildings, restoring and reinforcing the existing walls and attics, and in the reorganisation of the space as a centre for multimedia education and production.
From an energy consumption perspective, the project has allowed for a class B certification, through the creation of an internal covering applied to the perimeter walls and the substitution of the door and window frames with thermal break shutters and glazed argon.
The external lighting’s luminosity is regulated via a twilight sensor and web remote control system, and the lights themselves are powered by a photovoltaic installation of 8.25 Kwp.
The refurbishment has required the construction of a basement level, consecutive underpinnings and new structures.
Other additions concern the installation of a glass elevator shaft – well integrated within the large stairwell – the realisation of a steel and silk-screened glass roof in the courtyard, the construction of a multimedia room in the existing basement level, the integration of all respective fittings (mechanical, electrical, photovoltaic, etc.) and the restoration of an important shelter used during the second world war.
