M-TECH AND THE DIALOGUE BETWEEN SCHOOL, BUSINESS, AND ARCHITECTURE

M-TECH AND THE DIALOGUE BETWEEN SCHOOL, BUSINESS, AND ARCHITECTURE

M-TECH Alfredo Ferrari, a new high-quality technical secondary school, will open in Maranello in 2029. Designed to offer advanced training in mechanics and mechatronics, with a foundation in university engineering, it will provide a foundation in STEM and automotive fields. It will be conceived as an integrated system linking schools, businesses, and the local community, within one of Europe’s leading automotive districts.
The architectural project (of great cultural and economic value) was selected through an invitation-only competition. Benedetto Camerana, a member of the jury along with Mario Cucinella and Flavio Manzoni, Chief Design Officer at Ferrari, contributed to the selection of the winning project, designed by Labics: a complex proposal that integrates architecture and landscape with a system of open spaces and permeable environments.

On April 28, MAUTO hosted the presentation of the competition results.
The meeting, promoted by the Agnelli Foundation together with Ferrari, MAUTO, and the Order of Architects of Turin, of which Camerana is a member, retraced the entire design process. In addition to the winning project, those of MoDusArchitects and Design International with Tectoo were presented, along with the selection criteria. In addition to Benedetto Camerana, representatives of Ferrari and the Agnelli Foundation were also present, along with Alessandra Siviero, President of the Turin Foundation for Architecture. The event is part of MAUTO’s activities as a place of cultural production and exchange between disciplines related to the automotive world. The Agnelli Foundation has also been committed to this direction for over 10 years with its school program. In this context, Benedetto Camerana’s role is multifaceted, encompassing design practice, museum presidency, and participation in the architectural debate through the Foundation for Architecture.
